Where do the prices come from?

Scrimp ships with a table of US national-average prices for standard package sizes, updated with each release. Your store will differ, sometimes a lot. Treat the totals as a close estimate for comparing weeks, not a receipt.

The basket total is higher than the week's cost

The week's cost counts only what the recipes use. The basket counts whole packages you would buy today, so a 5 lb bag of rice shows its full price even if the week uses two cups. The rest carries into next week. Add it to your Pantry and it drops off the list.

Smart features are off

Reading your written preferences and the weekly note need Apple Intelligence (iPhone 15 Pro or newer, turned on in Settings → Apple Intelligence & Siri). Without it everything still works; use the toggles instead of free text.

A recipe doesn't fit my diet

Open Settings (gear) and check Diet, Gluten-free and Dairy-free, then reshuffle. To avoid a specific ingredient, write it in the preferences during onboarding or add it under Avoiding in Settings.

My purchase isn't showing

Settings (gear) → Restore purchase, signed in with the same Apple Account you bought with.
