The viewfinder is black

Collodion needs camera permission. Open Settings → Collodion → Camera and turn it on. You can still import photos from your library without camera access.

My plate did not save

Collodion needs permission to add photos. Open Settings → Collodion → Photos and choose “Add Photos Only”.

The image looks too dark or too bright

Open the dials (slider icon) and move Exposure. Every plate has a different native exposure; Ambrotype is the lightest, Tintype the deepest.

Why are the edges soft?

That is the Petzval fall-off of an 1850s portrait lens: sharp in the center, softening toward the plate edge. Turn the Softness dial down to reduce it or off to remove it.

Remove the COLLODION mark

Settings (gear) → Maker's mark → off.
